I usually think that a good spell of time between an original and a sequel is a good thing. It gives everyone space to refresh the ideas and develop the characterisations. That's pretty much what Gore Verbinsky has done with this superior follow-up to the 2003 story. In most aspects, this movie earns five stars. But the whole "Elizabeth loves Will, but the compass points to Jack/weird sexual tension with Jack" was kind of stupid. There's really no need for the leading lady to have a thing for BOTH leading men, especially since it never becomes anything bigger. Will seeing Elizabeth kiss Jack led to a rift in their relationship that could have been easily fixed with simple communication (and I am not a fan of the miscommunication trope).
